American Heart Association 2017-2018 Deadlines
The American Heart is accepting applications for programs which start in 2018, as listed below. Applicants must complete their applications within the AHA Grants@Heart system and, once finished, click on the Submit to Grants Officer option; this will release the application to the UI Division of Sponsored Programs DSP for review and submission to AHA.
In order for DSP to do its part, applicants must be sure to:
a) Select John Keller as Grant Officer where prompted within the application form; and b) Complete the UI Routing Form/process to secure departmental and collegiate approvals at least five business days before the AHA submission deadline.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Established Investigator Award

Supports mid-career investigators with unusual promise and an established record of accomplishments; candidates have a demonstrated commitment to cardiovascular or cerebrovascular science as indicated by prior publication history and scientific accomplishments. A candidate's career is expected to be in a rapid growth phase.
Career Stage: Intermediate level or recognized investigator – associate professor or equivalent, professor or equivalent. Applicants are expected to be independent investigators.

AHA Collaborative Sciences Award
To foster innovative collaborative approaches to research projects that propose novel pairings of investigators from at least two broadly disparate disciplines. The proposal must focus on the collaborative relationship, such that the scientific objectives could not be achieved without the efforts of at least two co-principal investigators and their respective disciplines.

Postdoctoral Fellowship
To enhance the integrated research and clinical training of postdoctoral applicants who are not yet independent. The applicant must be embedded in an appropriate research group with the mentorship, support, and relevant scientific guidance of a research sponsor.

AHA Merit Award

Strategically Focused Atrial Fibrillation Research Network
The AHA, in collaboration with PCORI, is interested in the science community exploring the etiology, prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease or stroke in Atrial Fibrillation, which can assist the AHA in reaching its 2020 Goals and overall mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. A Network is comprised of three to five institutions, or Centers, working on projects focusing on one strategic area.
