Applications to the Investigator-Initiated Research Grant Program must address the role of diet, nutrition, body composition or physical activity in either the Cancer Prevention or the Cancer Survivors Research Area. Applications must also align with at least one of the Research Themes (Biological Mechanisms or Host Factors/Susceptibility); for research in the area of Cancer Survivors, applications are invited to address a third theme of Exposure-Outcome Relationships:

1. Biological Mechanisms Theme: Research that will investigate the biological mechanisms that mediate the effects of diet, nutrition, body composition and physical activity on cancer risk (Cancer Prevention Area) and outcomes following a cancer diagnosis (Cancer Survivors Area).

2. Host Factors/Susceptibility Theme: Research that will investigate host factors that influence individual susceptibility to cancer development, progression or survivorship, and so contribute to explaining person-toperson variability in cancer risk and outcomes following a cancer diagnosis.

3. Exposure-Outcome Relationships Theme (Cancer Survivors Area only): Research that investigates exposureoutcome relationships related to the impact of diet, nutrition, body composition and physical activity on cancerrelated outcomes following a cancer diagnosis.
