The United States Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). This BAA invites academic institutions to respond to “Technical Forecasting Studies” in which offerors will conduct studies focused on identifying basic and applied research opportunities to ensure National Security advantage in air, space, or cyber domains in 2030 and beyond.

As further background, Major General Cooley, Commander of the AFRL seeks to look critically at the research the USAF does and undertake a new effort called “Air Force Science and Technology 2030” directed at engaging universities and industry to identify relevant existing efforts which may be have applicability for the Air Force.
