Development of a well-trained epidemiologic public health workforce in surveillance, outbreak detection and response is essential in meeting Global Health Security objectives. In partnership with Ministries of Health and other public and private stakeholders, CDC seeks to accelerate progress toward a world safe and secure from infectious disease threats by building workforce capacity through creation and support of a global network of field epidemiology and training program (FETP).
This NOFO is divided into three components - each applicant must apply for all three components for each country they submit an application for.
Component 1: Strengthening Global Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) Network
This is intended to be funded on an annual basis. The estimated Year 1 funding level is $45,000,000. Future years funding level will be dependent on funding availability.
Component 2: Rapid Response to Small-scale Public Health Emergencies
This is intended to be approved but unfunded (ABU) as a baseline practice. It would be funded to support additional activities needed within a budget period with a disease outbreak or other public health emergency reaches a scale that requires a substantial response. Estimated Year 1 planning level is $8,000,000.
Component 3: Rapid Response to Large-scale Public Health Emergencies
This is intended to be approved but unfunded (ABU) as a baseline practice. It would be funded to support additional activities needed within a budget period with a disease outbreak or other public health emergency reaches a scale that requires a substantial response. Estimated Year 1 planning level is $10,000,000.
