The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to highlight, raise public awareness, and preserve Afghanistan’s diverse cultural heritage.
Based on funding availability, this project aims to advocate for and preserve the diverse tangible and/or intangible heritage of Afghanistan, and to raise Afghans’ awareness and appreciation of the richness and diversity of the nation’s heritage with the aim to better enable its long-term protection. Project ideas can include heritage that is defined as either intangible such as traditional crafts, dance, and musical traditions, literary traditions, or tangible heritage such as buildings, monuments, sites, artifacts, and museum collections. This project will also focus on increasing public awareness of the rich cultural diversity that defines Afghanistan’s unique cultural patrimony, promoting civic responsibility to protect and preserve the rights of all their citizens and strive for inclusive, unified communities that recognize diversity.
