Dept. of State DOS solicitations generally limit the number of applications that may go forward in response to a specific solicitation.

Purpose of Grant: Local grants are intended for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), think tanks, and academic institutions. Local grant proposals must have a connection to American culture and values or should be directed to increasing understanding in Angola of American culture and society.
Activities that are typically funded include, but are not limited to:

  • Arts and culture programs;
  • English language programs;
  • Entrepreneurship;
  • Media training projects;
  • New media concepts aimed at reaching wider audiences;
  • Programs that empower women;
  • Proposals to enhance U.S.-Angola exchange programs;
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
  • Youth community service projects that practice democratic processes and encourage volunteerism;
  • Youth recreation, leadership, and education programs.
