The purpose of FP&S R&D Activity is to improve firefighter safety, health, or wellness through research and development that reduces firefighter fatalities and injuries. Project proposals for FP&S R&D funding should identify specific outcomes that are expected to lead to improved firefighter safety, health, or wellness. These outcomes likely will be related to new or improved programs, policies, and/or products. As an applied research program that aims to benefit firefighters, applicants are expected to develop strong partnerships with relevant fire service organizations and fire departments.
