The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE, https://www.globe.gov/) Program is a worldwide science and education program that provides opportunities to better understand, sustain, and improve Earth’s environment at local, regional, and global scales.

The Earth Science Division of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate solicits proposals for an organization or a team(s) of multiple organizations to host the GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) and collaborate with NASA in the implementation of GLOBE, with the objective of strengthening the programmatic support for GLOBE and enhancing the value of GLOBE to its worldwide community of students, educators, scientists, citizen scientists, and partners (hereinafter referred to as the GLOBE Community).

The award recipient(s) must lead the worldwide GLOBE Community to achieve GLOBE’s mission, provide robust community engagement, science, training, education, and public engagement support, and be committed to engage with the GLOBE Community in a collaborative and transparent manner. NASA welcomes innovative ideas, relevant expertise, and executable plans to address either one, two, or all three of the following elements:

  • GLOBE Community engagement and support
  • GLOBE Science
  • GLOBE Training, Education, and Public Engagement NASA anticipates awarding one to three cooperative agreement(s) with non-overlapping scope of work that together cover the three elements in Section 6 totaling up to $4.5M per year for five years. Proposers other than the current GIO cooperative agreement holder must include a transition plan for an initial four months of transition with an associated budget in the estimated range of up to 30% of the Year 1 budget.
