The Office of Citizen Exchanges of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA, or “Bureau”) announces an open competition for the FY 2018 Global Media Makers (GMM) program. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to conduct an innovative professional development program for film and television professionals from participating countries to enhance their creative impact. This program, like other ECA film program models, seeks to elevate influential voices that are building resilient civil societies by using film, television, and digital media to address critical local issues including, but not limited to, freedom of expression, human rights, pluralism, women’s empowerment, and tolerance.
Applicant organizations may submit only one proposal under this competition. If multiple proposals are received from the same applicant, all submissions will be declared ineligible and receive no further consideration in the review process.
Many Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) opportunities are limited to one application per organization. University of Iowa applicants are requested to contact Cheryl Ridgeway cheryl-a-ridgeway@uiowa.edu in the Office of the Vice President for Research a month prior to the deadline if interested in applying to this opportunity, to ensure application guidelines are met and to avoid disqualification. If multiple proposals are received from the same applicant organization, all submissions will be declared ineligible.
