Apply for a Grant from The American Society of Breast  Surgeons Foundation

In an effort to support professional education initiatives, the American Society of Breast Surgeons Foundation supports scientific research in the field of breast disease care.

The Foundation sponsors three research awards that are presented at The American Society of Breast Surgeons Annual Meetings. Each year abstracts are submitted to the ASBrS by hundreds of breast care specialists and reviewed for presentations. The Publications Committee of the ASBrS reviews and selects the abstracts to be presented at the Annual Meeting. The Publications Committee also selects the winners of the George Peters Award and Scientific Presentation Award. The winner of the Scientific Impact Award is voted on by the audience of the Annual Meeting.

Researchers who submit abstracts are eligible for the following awards:

The George Peters Award ($1000)

Recognizes the best presentation by a breast fellow. The George Peters Award was established in 2004 by the Society to honor Dr. George N. Peters, who was instrumental in bringing together the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Disease, and the Society of Surgical Oncology to develop educational objectives for breast fellowships. Subsequently the curriculum was used for the breast fellowship credentialing process that has led to the development of a nationwide matching program for breast fellowships.

The Scientific Presentation Award ($500)

Recognizes an outstanding presentation by a resident or  fellow.

The Scientific Impact Award

Any of the presenters is eligble for this award. The award recipient is selected by the audience.
