Through AIM, HRSA seeks to reduce maternal deaths and severe maternal morbidity by engaging provider organizations, state-based health and public health systems, consumer groups, and other stakeholders within a national partnership to assist state-based teams in implementing evidence-based maternal safety bundles. Maternal safety bundles are a set of small straightforward evidence-based practices, that when implemented collectively and reliably in the delivery setting, have improved patient outcomes and reduced maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity.

Funding for this cooperative agreement will support the awardee’s ability to conduct the following activities: 1) Leading a national partnership of organizations focused on reducing maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity by facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations; 2) Directing widespread implementation and adoption of the maternal safety bundles through collaborative state-based teams; and, 3) Collecting and analyzing process, structure and outcome data to drive continuous improvement in the implementation of safety bundles by state-based teams, through a continuous quality improvement framework.

Limited to one application per institution.

HRSA solicitations generally limit the number of applications that may go forward in response to a specific solicitation.  Please convey your interest by emailing a one-page abstract about your proposal to cheryl-a-ridgeway@uiowa.edu  in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development with a cc to the Division of Sponsored Programs DSP era@uiowa.edu or dsp@uiowa.edu  as soon as possible, but at least 30 days in advance of the deadline.  If we receive multiple abstracts in response to a given solicitation, a review will be conducted to select the applicant to submit on behalf of the University of Iowa.  Application materials are due in DSP at least 5 business days prior to the deadline.
