The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) seeks applications for funding to conduct research and evaluation on correctional climate and culture. This program furthers DOJ’s mission by supporting the development of new knowledge and tools to address the challenges of crime and justice in the United States through fundamental research.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks proposals for rigorous research and evaluation projects that inform our understanding of the impact of culture and climate on the ability of correctional agencies to achieve their missions, most fundamentally: to maintain a safe, humane, and secure environment for both staff and incarcerated individuals in the institutions that they manage; to recruit and retain staff; and to promote and sustain needed changes in their organizational cultures, operations, and programs to better achieve their missions.
