The required letters of intent (LOI) must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 4, 2021.

This Announcement solicits proposals focused on understanding how multiple stressors are  currently impacting marine ecosystems, and how these impacts will change under future climate scenarios. Proposed projects may address all relevant stressors in their chosen region, but must include, at a minimum, harmful algal blooms (i.e., high biomass, fish- or shellfish-killing, and/or toxin-producing bloom events), deoxygenation (i.e., includes a range of states from any loss of oxygen to hypoxia and anoxia), increasing temperature, and ocean acidification. Chosen species/habitat assemblages must be of broad management interest(e.g., commercial, recreational, subsistence, keystone, foundational, cultural, and/or ecologically important species) and relevant to an MPA or MPA network in the waters under the jurisdiction of the U.S. (including U.S. territories and the Great Lakes). The inclusion of a National Marine Sanctuary is encouraged, but not required.
