The GLD Program is committed to supporting the most meritorious research in any area relevant to the basic science of geomorphology, including multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and convergence research, as well as research involving international collaborations. The Program is especially interested in proposals from emerging fields, and those that include members of underrepresented groups such as women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities, those from geographically underrepresented areas in STEM, and those that involve veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. At this time, the Program is particularly (but not exclusively) interested in connections between geomorphic and ecological processes, applications of data science to advance geomorphology (e.g., machine learning), and activities focused on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (or JEDI) that are tightly integrated with the research. Where appropriate, proposals may be considered for joint support with other programs in the Division of Earth Sciences (EAR) and/or with other Divisions at the National Science Foundation.
