Quality of Life and Care

High quality care is a powerful tool against childhood cancer. The quality of life and care grants empower those best positioned to make effective discoveries: the caregivers themselves. In our Nursing Grant awards, our grantees include nurse practitioners who are leading the field in pediatric oncology nursing practice, as well as those who will become future leaders. In our Psychosocial Grants, grantees are researchers and practitioners investigating novel approaches to understanding the psychosocial aspects of pediatric cancer that will impact clinical care.

Nurse Researcher Grants

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Nursing Grants Program is designed to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families.  ALSF added the Nursing Grant program to an already successful and innovative pediatric research grant program in 2007.  We recognize the importance of investing in research that enables nurses to find better ways to care for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Psychosocial Grants

ALSF is committed to addressing the psychosocial and behavioral health outcomes for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Psychosocial Grants fill a direct need for research funding by supporting studies that aim to explain and/or improve psychosocial outcomes of those affected by childhood cancer. These grants are designed to fund researchers who have novel approaches to understanding the psychosocial aspects of pediatric cancer whose proposals will have a clinically significant impact.

ALSF offers two levels of Psychosocial Grants:

Travel For Care Program

Recognizing the financial burden that families often encounter, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Travel For Care Program offers assistance to families who face the need to travel for childhood cancer treatment at select medical institutions across the US. Transportation, lodging, and meal accommodations are available to eligible families who meet our criteria. Applications must be received on behalf of a social worker or another medical representative.
