The Prevention Research Centers program office at the CDC Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released its list of 2022 Special Interest Projects (SIPS).

It is anticipated that up to 14 awards will be made and will start September 30, 2022. These funding opportunities are available only to the Prevention Research Centers PRCs in the U.S. The PI role is not limited to PRC Directors but can be any investigator at that institution; therefore, anyone at the UI may apply and the funds are passed through the University of Iowa Prevention Research Center for Rural Health (PRC-RH).

 This RFA will provide supplemental funding to the Prevention Research Centers PRCs to design, test, evaluate, disseminate, and translate effective applied public health prevention research on interventions (i.e., programs, practices, policies, or strategies) and tools developed in real-world settings to address the leading causes of illness, disabilities, and death in the United States. Research projects announced in this NOFO align with public health priorities associated with Healthy People 2030 topic areas: Cancer and Adolescents; Cancer and Health Care Access and Quality; Children with Disabilities and Care Access and Quality; Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness; Older Adults and Dementia; People with Disabilities and Mental Health and Mental Disorders; Women, Emergency Preparedness, and Health Care Access and Quality.
