Responsive applications will propose research that could, in the long-term, have a transformative impact on the Nuclear Physics NP mission area and/or advance Quantum Information Science QIS development enabled by NP-supported science, technologies, and laboratory infrastructure. Likewise, QIS technologies offer the ability to discover and probe the fundamental structure and behavior of Nature with unprecedented sensitivity and accuracy. While recognizing the interdisciplinary and crosscutting nature of QIS, responsive applications should focus on areas consistent with the unique role and relevance of NP in this rapidly developing field.
Topics may include quantum computation, quantum simulations and simulators, quantum sensing, nuclear physics detectors, nuclear many-body problem, ‘squeezed’ quantum states, entanglement at collider energies, and gauge theories as well as novel areas of basic research.
