Small Grants for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Representatives from the University of Iowa Graduate College, the UI Office of the Vice President for Research, and the UI Graduate Student Senate administer funding assistance for University of Iowa students enrolled in graduate programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for research and creative work. Some activities that do not qualify for this funding are paper/poster presentations (see GSS/Graduate College Presentation Travel Funds instead), research or degree related travel, internship travels, job interviews, computers, etc.

NOTE:  Students must submit their part of the application materials to their department at least two weeks prior to the submission deadline, i.e. September 20, 2021 for the next grant deadline of October 5, 2021 at 5 p.m. (for Fall 2021 expenses). Consult your department as soon as possible for their internal deadline as well as inform them that you intend to apply.
The Spring Cycle will have an anticipated internal deadline of late January 2022.
