University of Iowa Employee Hardship Fund
The University of Iowa UI Employee Assistance Program, in collaboration with UI Family Services, announces a new financial assistance program for eligible University of Iowa employees experiencing financial hardship. The UI Emergency Hardship Fund may support one-time costs, of up to $1000, related to an emergency event or crisis. Temporary financial hardship means a hardship event rather than a pre-existing financial concern or obligation. Funds are limited and all requests may not be approved even though there may be a clear need for assistance. Employees separating/separated from employment at the University of Iowa are not eligible. Applications can be found on the website https://hr.uiowa.edu/ui-emergency-hardship-fund and will be submitted via UI workflow. A committee will review applications and respond within 2 weeks. Payments are considered taxable income and will be disbursed via check unless employee requests direct deposit.
Eligibility
- 50% or greater regular University of Iowa faculty and staff
- 6 months or more continuous employment
- Have an individual annual gross income of $50,000 (100% FTE) per year and under
- Have not received funds through the UI Hardship Fund in the past 5 years
Please refer interested University of Iowa employees to https://hr.uiowa.edu/ui-emergency-hardship-fund for more information or uhr-hardshipfund@uiowa.edu with questions.
