The Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has requested that the Institute of International Education (IIE) invite institutions of higher education to submit a proposal for the virtual Fulbright Gateway Orientation. Gateways are a benefit made available to incoming Fulbright grantees during the summer prior to the beginning of their graduate programs in the fall. Gateways are intended to address two main components: 1) the participants’ roles and responsibilities as Fulbrighters and 2) skill development for successful academic and professional lives in the U.S. The Gateway Orientation is primarily a cultural orientation and will contain no English language-training component. The program will serve approximately 2,000 grantees. Although most participants will have high levels of English proficiency, many will not have previously studied at U.S. institutions of higher education. Please consult the enclosed 2023 Gateway Orientation RFP for more information.
